anti-wrinkle one area

Botulinum Toxin is the most popular cosmetic procedure available and is best performed by an insured and qualified aesthetics professional.

Skin can lose elasticity with age and exposure to the environment no matter how well you treat it or how young you feel! When this happens, people can look older, more tired and sometimes even aggravated.

To alleviate the signs of ageing, Botulinum Toxin can be used as either a preventative treatment to stop the wrinkles forming, or as a way to smooth lines. Your aesthetician can help you to achieve the natural look you’re aiming for by careful discussion of what’s available.

As a complexion refreshment treatment, Botox has always been a great solution and is practised by many for both its pre-emptive and skin-smoothing effects. It offers solutions to diminish the look of crows feet, horizontal and vertical frown lines, chin puckering, bunny lines and smokers’ lines around the mouth. It is a well-studied aesthetic treatment which can be tailored to every face to achieve the look you want.

What is Botox?

Botox is an injectable most often used to treat the look of ageing skin. This can be around the forehead where it reduces the look of horizontal lines or the vertical lines between the brows. It can also be used to treat crows feet and lines around the nose and mouth. To achieve this, Botox temporarily paralyses the facial muscles it is injected into using a very fine needle, resulting in plumper, younger looking skin.

What is Botox made of?

Botox is a refined form of botulinum toxin A, a protein that causes temporary paralysis to muscles, reducing the signs and effects of ageing in the skin. Your aesthetician is trained and qualified in how to best use Botox to lessen wrinkles, freshen complexion and create a younger, natural looking finish.

Is Botulinum toxin safe?

Since the early 1980’s, Botulinum toxin has been used in myriad of different ways to treat the signs of ageing in cosmetic procedures and also clinical settings. Due to this long history, the effects are well-documented, well-researched and your aesthetician is trained to use it according to the most up-to-date codes of practise.

What can Botulinum Toxin be used for?

Botulinum Toxin can be used for both cosmetic and clinical procedures and research is always ongoing. Some of the more popular treatments are listed below:

  • Minimise wrinkles
  • Reduce crows feet
  • Reduce bunny lines on your nose
  • Relaxing the downward pull on the corners of the mouth
  • Softening pebble-like chin contractions
  • Relax the lines under the eyes
  • Brow lift or brow balance
  • Slenderising enlarged jaw muscles (masseter muscles)

As well as for wrinkles and skin lines, 20 years ago the FDA approved Botulinum toxin to treat other chronic health issues, such as excessive underarm sweating, overactive bladder, and migraines.

Do I have to prepare for Botulinum Toxin?

The best way to prepare for Botox is to research the procedures you are looking for and the qualifications of your aesthetician. They will ensure that you are a suitable candidate for Botulinum Toxin and discuss the best treatments for you. They will also be able to discuss any skin and health conditions which may affect your suitability for treatment and work out a solution if Botox is not recommended for any reason.

How long Botulinum does take?

One session usually takes around 30 minutes unless other treatments or procedures are being performed at the same time. Your beautician will advise you on how long they expect it to take when you make an appointment.

What should I expect afterwards?

You will be able to return to your normal routine immediately after the Botox treatment. There may be a little redness or swelling at the injection site but this resolves itself within a few hours or the next day. The smoothing effects of the Botox treatment will not appear for 2–3 days, with the finished result appearing within a week. The desired result will often be natural and subtle rather than the “frozen” effect which is a common misconception around the procedure. Expect to look refreshed rather than as if you’ve had a cosmetic treatment! Remember not to get Botox too often as this can affect the effectiveness of the treatment in the future. This will be explained to you by your aesthetician.

This is a tailor made procedures targeting the areas of fine lines and wrinkles, it can be gabella, forehead, frownlines or crows feet.
